10,000 OFWs Needed in Alberta Canada

With the healthy status of the Oil and Gas industry as well as infrastructure sector in Canada particularly Alberta, more and more OFWs are needed to fill jobs.  According to DOLE report, atleast 10,000 Pinoy workers are needed by Western Canada for their Oil and Gas, and various infrastructure projects.

Workers who qualify for work in Alberta will receive a monthly salary of 6,000 Canadian dollars (US$5,700) for the highly skilled welders, C$3,800 (US$3,600) for pipe fitters. The said amount is higher than the salary offered for welders and pipe fitters deployed in Saudi Arabia, which ranges between US$300 to US$500. - - Source

Reports like this should not be overlooked by OFWs and pinoys in Philippines eyeing for a better job in the future.  What I can say is that, if you are currently working abroad and interested to work in Canada I believe that you should map your career now to target the Oil and Gas Industry job openings in Canada.

Few years from now, the demand for Pinoys abroad in Canada will surely increase.  It seem as though there are lots of Oil and Gas projects coming up in Canada.  When it happens, those who are interested to work in live in Canada should have enough experience and qualification on the Oil and Gas industry as well as construction sector to to take advantage on future opportunities.

yes, filipinos who work in other parts of the world and who receive barely minimum wages, must consider mapping their future. canada is an option–but then, for most, they do not have the necessary know how of how they could do that, and yes, the money to start with.

wish an organization, say an NGO, can be set up for awareness and steps to be taken to uplift the plight of our people.

With the global financial meltdown pending, I doubt if this 10,000 will be available within this year or next year.
