A Tulis Silog is a combo breakfast meal consist of Tuyo, Dilis, Sinangag and Itlog - a very good alternative for the famous Tapsilog (tapa-sinangag-itlog) or longsilog(longanisa-sinangag-itlog) in Philippines. Dino Datu’s Alone at Last! covers how quickly he prepare this food. The recipe and the procedure you can read below so can taste and try it yourself..

Meanwhile I’ve managed to steal a shot while Lestat is viewing our featured Filipino Food for this week. This is from the Cook Magazine - February 2007 issue.

Stolen Shot!! - Lestat caught in the act hypnotized
with the Tulis Silog by Dino Datu (Cook Magazine)

The Tulis Silog Recipe:

Ingredients:
4 pcs tuyo
1/2 - 1 cup dilis
1 egg
as much garlic as you want
2 cups cooked rice
oil for frying
2 Tbsp brown sugar
siling labuyo to taste

Procedure:

  1. To make dilis, heat about 1/2 cup oil with the sugar and chilis.
  2. When sugar is melted, drop dried dilis and coat with the oil/sugar/chilli mix. Take out of the heat and let cool to crispen.
  3. Fry the egg, make the sinangag and fry the tuyo to desired doneness.
  4. Eat alone.

A really creative and delicous variation of our tuyo breakfast that I’m sure you’ll gonna love…:)
