Finally! ofw life’s blog with the new look..

After about two weeks since I received my free 100 dollar worth of review, experimenting, tweaking… at last I feel satisfied with the new appearance of my OFW LIFE blog now..

From day 0 to day 2 of my blog code editing.. it takes me around 2 weeks to finally come up with what you can see now.

Some changes I want to highlight are the following:
1.) Removed the adsense header ad - this is a tough decision I made considering that my adsense header ad generates generates 26% of my adsense earning last month. It appears annoying to some visitor whenever they see banner place just above the blog’s header. Since my priority is visitors optimum browsing experience and attract them to stay more time browsing my blog, removing the adsense header ad might be worth it.. let us see.

2) Relocate the adsense link ad that mimic the navigation panel. I changed the 468×60 link ad square ad and shifted it on the right side panel. Although Selaplana’s suggestion is to put it under the subscription feed box, I decided to placed on top of it for more exposure. Placing it under the feedbox will decrease its visibility thereby resulting to less clickthrough rate.

3) As you can notice in my original layout I have xoom ad there.. and the header/logo is boring..:) Using my photoshop and some images stacked in my harddisk, played a little with a hue, and overlay.. then with a gradient mapping I finally arrived with my new logo and banner above. Atleast it is much better now.. cool and not as boring as compared with the previous one. I’ve removed the xoom ad coz it is not having a sale anyway…I will work in improving my traffic first before I start to putting income generating banner ad again.

4) In my second day of relayouting my blog I removed the navigation button - home, job,..etc This seem to be not a good idea, I realize one day that visitor is having a hard time navigating my blog one of the user’s feedback when she was brought somewhere while browsing my blog and she doesn’t know how to return in my main page..:) sorry for the inconvenience.. I removed it. It’s actually a part of the experiment but it turns out not good so i put it back and moved it right under my header logo, common place for navigation button.

5) The search box.. I move it up to have some space in my side bar, besides, that location is the common placement for the search button. The search box is use to search article so why not put it in the common place where the search box is and where the user can easily see it..it obstructs my header image though..but that i think we can tolerate, i hope so.

6) Ive added a big FEEDBURNER. a not so small and not so big - good enough to be noticed by visitor in the hope that they subscribe and increase my blog’s readership.. this is one of the major thing pointed out by Selaplana.

7) Added a subscribe to my feed request..bookmark.. and share to a friend every post.. who knows. someone might be interested in what I post and share it with his relatives or friends. Recommend a topic is also a good idea, I received one and I think this drives her to send me email and ask if I can share this topic.. which I did of course..

So that is the summary of my little experience in modifying this blog look. Improvement is not an ended activity it must be continous, right?

My next activity will be the “banner”. In my pursuit to increase my traffic one opportunity that I see is the “free banner advertisement” of SELaplana. The free banner advertisement program of SELaplana’s site which he currently promotes in a text anchor “Make Money Online with a Dumb Blogger“in cooperation with PinoyBlogger Directory, hmm looks like our friendly neigborhood Selaplana is into another experiment again huh… well.. all I can say is good luck pal and whatever game you are into.. I’m right behind you..:)
