Pay Debt or Save Money? Which comes first?

Salve Duplito of Money Smarts wrote an article talking about which comes first, paying debt or saving money? This is very useful for us OFW specially when making decision where are we going to put our hard-earned money. Are we going to use it to pay for our debt first or put in our personal stash for future use.

I like the quote:
“Interest never sleeps. It never gets sick. It works on Sundays and never goes on holidays.”

It is true and that’s the reason why in my 11 months of working here in Kuwait, I set debt payments on top of my priority list. Though I’m setting aside a little portion of my monthly income in small investment in Philippines that generates fair return.. I made sure that the larger part of my salary was alloted to free me from debt which piled ’til my neck when I was still working in Philippines :(

Managing debt is not an easy task, it needs commitment and discipline. Saving money on the other hand needs a lot of things to consider. How about doing both the same time ?.. Read the Salve’s full article here to give you a clear insights which one needs to be done first…
