Sudden Cardiac Arrest, are you at risk?
Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is when the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. This is not the same with a heart attack because heart attack is the problem with blood flow to heart whereas the SCA occur when blood stops to flow. What happened when somebody experience SCA is that the blood stops flowing to the brain and other vital organs which is why we should deal with in utmost urgency. On this kind of Heart Attack Risk, death is likely to occur if a person having the SCA is not treated immediately.
According to AHA stats, 80 percent of cardiac arrests occur in the home and more than 95 percent of cardiac arrest victims die before reaching the hospital with the 30-45 percent survival rate.
Sudden Cardiac arrest usually leads to sudden cardiac death. About two thirds of unexpected cardiac deaths occur without prior recognition of cardiac disease. That is why it is crucial to check if the symptoms of having this one. Prevention is always better than cure so have a close watch on our heart and health each second.
